  839. Tue Aug 23 14:43:19 1994 Roland McGrath <roland@churchy.gnu.ai.mit.edu>
  840. * socket/sys/socket.h (PF_FILE, AF_FILE): Removed (use LOCAL instead).
  841. (PF_XTP, PF_COIP, PF_CNT, PF_RTIP, PF_IPX, PF_SIP, PF_PIP): New
  842. macros.
  843. (PF_MAX): Increased to 26.
  844. (pseudo_AF_XTP, AF_COIP, AF_CNT, pseudo_AF_RTIP, AF_IPX, AF_SIP,
  845. pseudo_AF_PIP): New macros.
  846. (MSG_EOR, MSG_TRUNC, MSG_CTRUNC, MSG_WAITALL, MSG_DONTWAIT,
  847. SO_REUSEPORT): New enum constants.
  848. * hurd/hurdsig.c (_hurd_internal_post_signal): If not preempted,
  849. set ACT before checking for SIGCONT. When continuing and
  850. ACT==handle, don't resume SS->thread; record that it is suspended
  851. and in handler-setup code, don't suspend it again.
  852. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/sys/param.h: Include <errno.h> (BSD does).
  853. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__fork.c: When unchaining old sigstates, check
  854. for SS being head of chain.
  855. Mon Aug 22 00:29:02 1994 Roland McGrath <roland@churchy.gnu.ai.mit.edu>
  856. * time/{asia,australasia,europe,northamerica}: New data from ADO.
  857. * hurd/hurdsig.c (abort_rpcs): After destroying MSGING_PORT,
  858. change the return value register in STATE to EINTR.
  859. * sysdeps/mach/mips/thread_state.h (SYSRETURN): New macro.
  860. * sysdeps/mach/i386/thread_state.h (SYSRETURN): New macro.
  861. * hurd/hurdsig.c (default_sigaction): New function.
  862. (_hurd_thread_sigstate): Use it to initialize SS->actions.
  863. Initialize rest of new sigstate by hand, don't just bzero it.
  864. * hurd/hurdsig.c (_hurd_internal_post_signal): Initialize
  865. THREAD_STATE.set to zero.
  866. * posix/execl.c: Use ARG instead of PATH in va_start.
  867. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__fork.c: In child fork, unchain stale
  868. structures from _hurd_sigstates first, and only free them after
  869. other processing is complete.
  870. * hurd/hurdpath.c (__hurd_path_lookup_retry): For malformed number
  871. in magic "fd/N", return ENOENT instead of treating it as bogus
  872. magic.
  873. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__chdir.c: After __path_lookup on arg, use
  874. __hurd_path_lookup of empty file name on resultant port to check
  875. that it's a directory.
  876. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/chroot.c: Likewise.
  877. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/fchdir.c: Use __hurd_path_lookup of empty file
  878. name on FD port to check that it's a directory and acquire a
  879. reference at the same time.
  880. * hurd/fchroot.c: Likewise.
  881. * hurd/hurdpid.c (init_pids): Add gratuitous self reference to
  882. silence compiler.
  883. * hurd/hurdpath.c: Include <hurd/term.h> for cttyid opening rpc.
  884. (__hurd_path_lookup_retry): Fixed typo.
  885. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/i386/__sigret.c: Push state onto the user's
  886. stack, switch to it, pop and return.
  887. Major rewrite of Hurd signal delivery.
  888. * hurd/hurd/signal.h (struct hurd_sigstate): New member `context'.
  889. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/i386/trampoline.c: Include "thread_state.h"
  890. instead of <mach/thread_status.h>.
  891. (struct mach_msg_trap_args): New type.
  892. (trampoline): Function removed.
  893. (_hurd_setup_sighandler): Take struct hurd_sigstate * arg instead
  894. of FLAGS and SIGALTSTACK args; take new flag arg RPC_WAIT; use
  895. struct machine_thread_all_state * for STATE arg. New declared
  896. labels `trampoline', `rpc_wait_trampoline' mark asm code at end of
  897. function (after return). Add another struct sigcontext * to
  898. STACKFRAME after the first one, for the arg to __sigreturn. If
  899. SS->context is set, fill registers in SCP from that instead of
  900. STATE, and reset SS->INTR_PORT from it. Use memcpy to copy from
  901. STATE into SCP; the structures are congruent. If RPC_WAIT is set,
  902. set up to use rpc_wait_trampoline and frob args to mach_msg_trap
  903. syscall in progress so that it will retry the receive operation
  904. (but not resend!).
  905. {rpc_wait_trampoline, trampoline}: New trampoline code.
  906. (_hurd_rcv_interrupted_p): New function.
  907. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/mips/trampoline.c: Likewise.
  908. * hurd/hurdsig.c (write_corefile): Take new arg SIGERROR. Use
  909. _hurdsig_getenv instead of getenv. Use dir_mkfile to create an
  910. unlinked node for the core file; then use dir_link to name it,
  911. only if core_dump_task succeeded.
  912. (post_reply): New function.
  913. (abort_thread): New function.
  914. (interrupted_reply_port_location): New function.
  915. (interrupted_reply_port): Function removed (replaced by above).
  916. (abort_all_rpcs): Take struct machine_thread_all_state * for STATE.
  917. (abort_rpcs): Likewise.
  918. Return int, nonzero iff interrupt_operation RPC was done. Take
  919. args for reply port and its port type; call abort_thread instead
  920. of doing thread_abort and thread_get_state. Call
  921. _hurdsig_rcv_interrupted_p instead of _hurd_thread_state_msging_p.
  922. Use __interrupt_operation mig stub instead of manual packing. If
  923. we destroy the msging port, and it is the thread's mig reply port,
  924. clear its reply port slot. Fix inverted SA_RESTART test.
  925. (_hurd_internal_post_signal): Take new arg SIGERROR.
  926. Remove `cont' from ACT enum; SIGCONT processing is independent of
  927. handling. Removed local function `check_pending'; add `reply'.
  928. Use mask macro STOPSIGS instead of alternation to check for stop
  929. signals. Process SIGCONT and do continuation before examining the
  930. handler. Use SS->pending_data instead of SS->sigcodes. When
  931. dying, don't lock _hurd_siglock around __proc_dostop call. When
  932. dying, reply immediately after stopping user threads. When
  933. handling, notice return from abort_rpcs and pass it to
  934. _hurd_setup_sighandler; also pass SS instead of its components.
  935. Set SCP->sc_error from SIGERROR; clear SS->intr_port after saving
  936. it in SCP->sc_intr_port. For pending checks, use macro PENDING
  937. and goto pending if returns true.
  938. (_S_sig_post): Eliminate unnecessary variable WIN; pass SIGERROR
  939. value of zero to _hurd_internal_post_signal.
  940. (_hurdsig_getenv): New function.
  941. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/i386/__sigret.c (sp): New global register
  942. variable.
  943. (__sigreturn): Arg is not const.
  944. After restoring SCP->sc_mask, check for pending signals (newly
  945. unblocked); if any, set SS->context to SCP, clear SS->intr_port,
  946. and send sig_post to the signal thread to deliver the pending
  947. signals. Point SP directly at &SCP->sc_gs and used popa;iret to
  948. restore. (This does not actually work; iret is unhelpful.)
  949. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/mips/__sigret.c (__sigreturn): Arg is not
  950. const. After restoring SCP->sc_mask, check for pending signals
  951. (newly unblocked); if any, set SS->context to SCP, clear
  952. SS->intr_port, and send sig_post to the signal thread to deliver
  953. the pending signals. Don't write $1 value into the user stack.
  954. Instead, write it into the word just past SCP->sc_pc; then point
  955. $1 at SCP->sc_pc and use `op_sigreturn' pseudo-instruction to
  956. restore the PC and $1 from that.
  957. Fri Aug 19 15:39:54 1994 Roland McGrath <roland@churchy.gnu.ai.mit.edu>
  958. * configure.in (machine): Grok i586 -> i386/i586.
  959. * sysdeps/i386/pentium: Directory renamed to sysdeps/i386/i586.
  960. * hurd/hurd.h (_hurd_pids_changed_stamp, _hurd_pids_changed_sync):
  961. New variables.

  963. _hurd_pids_changed_stamp and broadcast on _hurd_pids_changed_sync.
  964. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__setpgrp.c: After proc_setpgrp succeeds and
  965. PID is ourself, wait on _hurd_pids_changed_sync until
  966. _hurd_pids_changed_stamp increases from the value before the RPC.
  967. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__setsid.c: After proc_setsid succeeds, wait
  968. on _hurd_pids_changed_sync until _hurd_pids_changed_stamp
  969. increases from the value before the RPC.
  970. * posix/sys/wait.h [GCC>=2.6] (__WAIT_STATUS): Define this with

  972. attribute.
  973. * stdio/printf_fp.c (MPNSIZE): New macro, computed from DBL_MAX_EXP.
  974. (MPN_VAR): Use that for size of bignums.
  975. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__kill.c: For pgrp, ignore ESRCH error from
  976. kill_pid of individual pids, unless from all of them.
  977. * hurd/hurdkill.c (_hurd_sig_post): Likewise.
  978. Fri Aug 19 00:54:50 1994 Roland McGrath <roland@churchy.gnu.ai.mit.edu>

  995. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__select.c (SELECT_DONE_MSGID): Correct value
  996. to 23020.
  997. (__select): Don't set PORT until just before sending io_select calls.
  998. Pass proper send-size for io_select_done reply message. Clear the
  999. reply port slot in io_select_done reply message header.
  1000. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/__kill.c: Rename parameter to ARG_SIG, make
1001. SIG a local variable initialized to that (this to work around a
  1002. GCC bug).
1003. Initialize PIDS and NPIDS properly for proc_getpgrppids call.
1004. * signal/signal.h (__sigreturn, sigreturn): Arg is not const.
  1005. * hurd/hurdpath.c (__hurd_path_lookup_retry): For REAUTH or NORMAL
1006. with empty retryname, treat like NONE (which is now obsolete)

1023. (HURD_EINTR_RPC): Invert sense of restart test.
  1024. * hurd/hurdrlimit.c (_hurd_rlimits): Add braces to initializer.
1025. * hurd/catch-exc.c: Unlock _hurd_siglock when done with it. Use

  1027. * sysdeps/mach/thread_state.h: New file.
  1028. * sysdeps/mach/i386/thread_state.h: Don't #include

1117. rather than using _hurd_thread_sigstate, to avoid locks.
  1118. * sysdeps/mach/hurd/mips/msging-p.c: Fetch port argument from
